The world of recruitment is changing rapidly, and AI is at the forefront of this transformation. But with the power of AI comes the responsibility to use it ethically and legally.

Last Thursday, we hosted our second AI workshop, focusing on the critical topic of AI compliance. We explored two key regulations: the EU AI Act and the New York Bias Audit Law. These regulations are shaping the future of AI in recruitment, and it's crucial for organisations to understand their implications and ensure compliance.

What We Covered:

  • The EU AI Act: This ground breaking legislation sets clear guidelines for the ethical and safe use of AI, including specific requirements for high-risk AI systems used in hiring. We discussed the Act's risk-based approach, prohibited practices, and key requirements for compliance.
  • The New York Bias Audit Law: This law mandates bias audits for automated employment decision tools, ensuring fairness and transparency in AI-driven recruitment processes. We explored the law's requirements, including independent auditor qualifications and reporting obligations.

Why Compliance Matters:

  • Mitigate Risk: Avoid legal challenges and reputational damage by ensuring your AI recruitment practices comply with regulations.
  • Promote Fairness: Reduce bias and discrimination in your hiring process, creating a more equitable and inclusive workplace.
  • Build Trust: Demonstrate your commitment to ethical AI and responsible innovation, building trust with candidates and stakeholders.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Position your organisation as a leader in ethical AI adoption and navigate the evolving legal landscape with confidence.
